History of Fayetteville
Fayetteville was founded in 1818. An immigrant from Ireland named Cornelius McGroarty started the village. It officially became a village in 1868. By 1883, Fayetteville had grown quite a bit. It had two churches and two schools. There were also two hotels, several stores, and two drug stores.

Fayetteville is a small village. It covers an area of about 0.52 square miles (1.22 square kilometers). All of this area is land. The village is located on a bend of the East Fork Little Miami River.
