A Look Back: How the Ministry Started
The Ministry of Health started in 1961. Back then, it was called the Federal Ministry of Health Services.
For a while, from 1969 to 1991, it was part of a bigger ministry. This bigger group also looked after families, young people, and women.
In 1991, the Ministry of Health became its own separate ministry again. Later, in 2002, it also took care of social security. This meant it helped with things like pensions and support for people. But this only lasted for three years.
