Felipe Reyes' Basketball Journey

Starting with Estudiantes Madrid (1998–2004)

Felipe Reyes began his professional basketball journey in Spain. He joined Estudiantes Madrid in the top Spanish league, the ACB League, during the 1998–99 season. In the same year, he also played for the club's second team, Estudiantes B. He stayed with Estudiantes until the 2003–04 season. While there, he also got to play in European competitions like the EuroCup and the top-level EuroLeague.

Playing for Real Madrid (2004–2021)

Before the 2004–05 season, Reyes moved to the famous Spanish club Real Madrid. In May 2015, he was recognized for his great playing. He was named to the All-EuroLeague First Team for that season. He also won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the Spanish ACB League in 2014–15. This was the second time he won this award!

In that same 2014–15 season, Felipe's team, Real Madrid, won the EuroLeague championship. They beat Olympiacos 78–59 in the final game. Real Madrid then went on to win the Spanish ACB League championship too. They swept Barcelona 3–0 in the final series. With these wins, Real Madrid achieved the Triple Crown for the season! This means they won three major titles in one year.

On June 27, 2015, Reyes signed a new two-year contract with Real Madrid. In March 2017, he became the all-time leader in total rebounds in the Spanish ACB League. He passed the previous record holder, Granger Hall.

In May 2018, Real Madrid won another 2017–18 EuroLeague championship. They defeated Fenerbahçe Doğuş 85–80 in the final game. During that EuroLeague season, Reyes played 35 games. He averaged 8.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.

On February 4, 2019, Reyes set another record. He became the all-time leader in games played in the ACB League. This includes both the current ACB and the older Primera División. He played his 779th Spanish League game against Unicaja Málaga. This broke the record held by Joan Creus. A few days later, on February 15, 2019, Reyes also became the all-time leader in games played in the Spanish King's Cup tournament. He passed Juan Carlos Navarro for this record.

Felipe Reyes re-signed with Real Madrid on July 24, 2020. On June 23, 2021, he announced that he was ending his long and successful professional basketball career. He had been the team captain for many years.
