Felton Little Park is a public park in Auburn, Alabama, USA. It's the oldest park in Auburn! For many years, from 1949 to 1968, it was the home field for the Auburn High School football team. Their baseball team also played there from 1949 to 1967.

Today, Felton Little Park has three softball fields where young people play. The park is named after Felton Little, a city leader who gave the land for the park.

Park History: From Past to Present

This park has an interesting history, starting way back in the 1940s. It became a special place for sports and fun in Auburn.

How the Park Started

In the late 1940s, leaders in Auburn wanted a central park. They also needed a place for Auburn High School to play football and baseball. Before this, the school teams played at Auburn University.

A man named Felton Little owned land close to downtown. He decided to donate this land to the city in September 1947. This generous gift made the park possible!

Opening Day and First Game

On September 30, 1949, the park officially opened. It was first called "Auburn City Park." On that day, the Auburn High football team played against Tuskegee High School.

This game was special because it was the first night football game ever played in Auburn. The field had outdoor lights, which was a big deal back then!

Renaming and New Homes for Teams

In 1955, the park was renamed "Felton Little Park." This honored Felton Little, who had given the land.

Over time, the high school teams found new homes.

  • In 1967, the Auburn High baseball team moved to a new field at their school.
  • On October 4, 1968, the football team played its last game at Felton Little Park. They then moved to their new stadium, Duck Samford Stadium.

Modern Day: Softball Fields

In the early 1970s, the park changed. It was turned into three baseball fields for youth leagues. Then, in 2003, the park got a big update. These three fields were changed into modern softball fields.

Football Team Records

The Auburn High School football team played at Felton Little Park for 20 seasons. During that time, their record was 42 wins, 42 losses, and 8 ties.
