Fena Lake is the biggest lake on the island of Guam. It's not a natural lake, but a man-made reservoir. You can find it in the southern part of the island, inside a military area called the Ordnance Annex.
Tall mountains like Mount Lamlam, Mount Alifan, and Mount Jumullong Manglo look over the lake. Water flows out of Fena Lake to the northwest. This water eventually reaches the Pacific Ocean at Talofofo Bay.

Building Fena Lake
Why was Fena Lake built?
Work on the Fena Reservoir started in the late 1940s. It was finished in 1951. The main reason for building this huge lake was to give clean drinking water to the people of Guam.
How was the dam made?
The U.S. Navy built a very tall dam, about 85 feet high. This dam holds back the water to create the reservoir. The whole project cost about $11 million U.S. dollars.
Where does the water come from?
All the drinking water on Guam comes from rain. Fena Lake also gets all its water from rainfall. Rain fills up the reservoir, making sure there's enough water for everyone.
