Fernando Talaverano Gallegos was an important Spanish lawyer and administrator. He was born in Spain in 1563 and later passed away in Chile in 1619. For about ten months, from March 1617 to January 1618, he served as the temporary governor of Chile. He took on this big job after the previous governor, Alonso de Ribera, died.

Fernando Talaverano Gallegos was also known as Hernando Talaverano. He was a skilled lawyer and worked as an administrator for the Spanish government. This meant he helped manage and organize parts of the Spanish Empire.

Becoming Governor of Chile

In the early 1600s, Chile was a part of the Spanish Empire. It was ruled by a person called a governor, who was like the main leader of the region. When Governor Alonso de Ribera died, Fernando Talaverano was chosen to take over. He became the temporary governor of Chile.
