Ferydoon Zandi (born April 26, 1979) is a retired professional footballer from Iran. He played as an Attacking midfielder for many clubs and for the Iranian national team.

Early Life and Football Start
Ferydoon Zandi was born in Emden, a city in northern Germany. His father was Iranian, and his mother was German. He learned to speak both German and Persian. Zandi started playing football when he was very young. His talent was clear as he played for several youth clubs near his hometown.
Club Career Highlights
Ferydoon Zandi played for many different football clubs throughout his career. He was known for being a dangerous and flexible attacker.
Playing in Germany
Zandi played for the German under-17 national team. He started his senior career at SV Meppen before moving to SC Freiburg. He then joined VfB Lübeck in the 2. Bundesliga, which is Germany's second-highest football league. At Lübeck, he became one of the best players, scoring many goals and helping his teammates score too.
In 2004, he signed with 1. FC Kaiserslautern, a bigger club, and was given the important number 10 jersey. After a couple of seasons, he left and signed a short contract with TuS Koblenz in 2006.
Playing in Cyprus
In 2007, Zandi moved to Cyprus and joined Apollon Limassol. He later played for Olympiakos Nicosia in 2008. In 2009, he signed with Alki Larnaca, where he became the team's top scorer.
Playing in Iran and Qatar
After his time in Cyprus, Zandi moved to Iran. He joined Steel Azin in 2009 and played there for two seasons. In 2011, he moved to Esteghlal, one of Iran's biggest clubs. Even though he started with an injury, he helped his team win the Hazfi Cup in his first season.
In 2012, Zandi joined Al Ahli in Qatar. He played there for a couple of years before announcing his retirement from football on November 5, 2015. Overall, he played in 318 club games and scored 72 goals.
International Career
Ferydoon Zandi was born in Germany, but he also had Iranian heritage. At first, he didn't have permission to play for Iran because he wasn't an Iranian citizen. However, the Iranian Football Federation worked to get him permission.
He began playing for the Iran national team in 2005 during the qualifiers for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He also played for Iran in the 2007 AFC Asian Cup, where he scored a goal from a free kick against China. Zandi played in 29 international matches for Iran and scored 5 goals. He retired from international football in May 2012.
Coaching Career
After ending his playing career, Ferydoon Zandi became a coach. From 2016 to 2020, he worked as an assistant coach for FC St. Pauli II. Later, from 2020 to 2022, he was an assistant coach for Dynamo Dresden.
