Ferydoon Zandi, born on April 26, 1979, is a retired professional footballer from Iran. He played as an Attacking midfielder during his career. After retiring as a player, he became a football coach.

Early Life and Football Start
Ferydoon Zandi was born in Emden, a city in northern Germany. His father was Iranian, and his mother was German. He grew up speaking both German and Persian. Ferydoon started playing football when he was very young. His talent was clear as he played for several youth clubs near his hometown.
Club Career Highlights
Ferydoon Zandi played for many different football clubs throughout his career. He started in Germany, then moved to Cyprus, and later played in Iran and Qatar.
Playing in Germany
Zandi was good enough to be called up for the Germany national under-17 football team. He played for SV Meppen before joining SC Freiburg. He then moved to VfB Lübeck, where he became a very strong attacker. He was known for scoring goals and helping his teammates score.
In 2004, he joined 1. FC Kaiserslautern. He played there for two seasons. Later, in September 2006, he signed with TuS Koblenz, but he left in January 2007 because he didn't play much.
Playing in Cyprus
After leaving Germany, Zandi moved to Cyprus. On January 2, 2007, he signed with Apollon Limassol. He later joined Olympiakos Nicosia in January 2008. On March 24, 2009, Zandi signed a one-year contract with Alki Larnaca, where he became the team's top scorer.
Playing in Iran and Qatar
In 2009, Zandi joined the Iranian team Steel Azin and played there for two seasons. After that, in August 2011, he moved to Esteghlal. Even though he started with an injury, he quickly made an impact. He helped Esteghlal win the Hazfi Cup in his first season.
After leaving Esteghlal in September 2012, Zandi joined the Qatari team Al Ahli. He announced his retirement from playing football on November 5, 2015.
International Football
Ferydoon Zandi grew up in Germany, but he also had Iranian family. At first, he didn't have permission to play for the Iran national team. However, the Iranian Football Federation worked to get him permission. Zandi then started playing for Iran in 2005 during the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualification games.
He was part of the Iranian squad for the 2007 AFC Asian Cup. On July 15, 2007, Zandi scored a goal for Iran from a free kick in a match against China. He also played for Iran in the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification. On May 28, 2012, Zandi announced that he was retiring from international football.
Coaching Career
After his playing career, Ferydoon Zandi became a coach. In 2020, he joined Dynamo Dresden, a club in Germany, as an assistant coach. In March 2022, he was briefly named head coach, but a new coach was appointed just two days later.
Traffic Accident
In 2005, Ferydoon Zandi was involved in a serious car accident on a highway. Another car suddenly swerved in front of him, and he had to quickly move to avoid it. His car crashed into a large lorry. Even though his car was completely damaged, Ferydoon Zandi was very lucky and only had minor injuries.
