Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre is a super big outdoor concert place in Greenwood Village, Colorado, USA. It can hold up to 18,000 people! This makes it the largest outdoor concert venue in the Denver metropolitan area. You can usually catch shows here from May to September each year. It has also been known by other names like Comfort Dental Amphitheatre and Coors Amphitheatre in the past.
All About Fiddler's Green
This awesome amphitheatre has 7,500 fixed seats, which means they are always there. Plus, there's a huge grassy area where many more people can sit or stand to enjoy the show. It's located in Greenwood Plaza, surrounded by office buildings.
The amphitheatre first opened on June 11, 1988. The very first performance was by a musician named Dan Fogelberg. For a while, it changed its name a few times because of different sponsors. In 2004, it became the Coors Amphitheatre. Then, in 2010, it was called the Comfort Dental Amphitheatre. But since February 2013, it has proudly gone back to its original name, Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre.
In 2013, the company that managed the venue changed. The owner, the Museum of Outdoor Arts, signed a new agreement with AEG Live Rocky Mountains. This new partnership included a big $5 million renovation to make the amphitheatre even better!
The Museum of Outdoor Arts
The Museum of Outdoor Arts (MOA) is a local non-profit group that actually owns Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre. They are the ones who gave it its original name when it first started.
Believe it or not, the amphitheatre began as a simple "earth sculpture." This means it was just made of earth and grass! Local business people would come there for lunchtime concerts. Later, walls and seats were added to turn it into the amazing concert venue it is today. MOA has worked with big concert promoters over the years, like Live Nation.
Connected to the amphitheatre is another cool place called Marjorie Park, which is also owned by MOA. Marjorie Park is like an outdoor art gallery! It has many interesting sculptures, including famous bronze statues from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by artist Harry Marinsky. You can also see unique "Stickworks" by Patrick Dougherty and other amazing art pieces.
