Filer, Missouri facts for kids
Filer is a small, quiet place in northern Douglas County, which is in the beautiful Ozarks region of southern Missouri. It's what's called an unincorporated community, meaning it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Filer is located on a place called Tick Ridge, right along Missouri Route C. It's about 3 miles (or 5 kilometers) south of the line that separates Douglas County from Wright County.
History of Filer
The community of Filer got its name from the Filer family, who were early settlers in the area. A post office was opened in Filer in 1895. This was a place where people could send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years, but it eventually closed down in 1913. Even though the post office is gone, the name Filer still remains for this little community.
