Fillmore is a small community called a hamlet in Allegany County, New York, United States. It is part of the town of Hume. In 2020, about 596 people lived there.
Fillmore was first known as "The Mouth of the Creek." In 1850, it was renamed after Millard Fillmore, who was the 13th President of the United States. Fillmore used to be a village, but it is now just a hamlet.
The Hungarian Scout Association in Exteris has its main camp, the Hungarian Scout Camp, near Fillmore. Even though Fillmore is its mailing address, the camp is actually in the nearby town of Granger.
Geography of Fillmore
Fillmore is located where Cold Creek flows into the Genesee River. It sits about 1,200 feet (366 meters) above sea level. You can find it where County Road 4 meets New York State Route 19 and New York State Route 19A.
The hamlet is about 1 mile (1.6 km) southeast of Hume's town center. It is also about 4 miles (6.4 km) north of Houghton on Route 19. Another hamlet, Rossburg, is about 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Fillmore on Route 19A.
