Hume is a small town located in Allegany County, New York, United States. It sits on the northern border of Allegany County. In 2020, about 2,094 people lived in Hume.

History of Hume
The first person to settle in the area that would become Hume was Roger Mills, who arrived in 1806. The town of Hume was officially created in 1822. It was formed from a part of the town of Pike, which is in Wyoming County.
Geography of Hume
Hume covers a total area of about 38.3 square miles (99.25 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 37.9 square miles (98.13 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 0.4 square miles (1.12 square kilometers), is water.
The Genesee River flows through the eastern part of the town. The northern border of Hume is also the border of Wyoming County. A bridge crossing the Genesee River in Fillmore was flooded in 1972.
New York State Route 19 goes through the town from north to south. It connects with New York State Route 19A in Fillmore.

Communities and Locations in Hume
The Town of Hume includes several smaller communities and locations:
- Fillmore – This small community is located where Routes 19 and 19A meet, on the west side of the Genesee River.
- Hume – This is the main community, also known as Hume Village. It used to be called "Cold Creek" and is northwest of Fillmore on Route 19.
- Mills Mills – This place is north of Fillmore. It was named after the early settlers from the Mills family.
- Rossburg – This community is northeast of Fillmore, located on Route 19A.
- Wiscoy – This community is north of Fillmore, also on Route 19A.
