Finance Trust Bank, often called FTB, is a bank in Uganda. It helps people and businesses with their money. The Bank of Uganda, which is like the main bank of the country, makes sure FTB follows all the rules.

Where is Finance Trust Bank Located?
FTB's main office is in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. It's located at TWED Plaza on Lumumba Avenue in an area called Nakasero.
How Did Finance Trust Bank Start?
FTB began in 1984 as Uganda Women's Finance Trust Limited. Its main goal was to offer banking help to people with lower incomes in Uganda. They especially wanted to help women. Today, about 60% of the bank's customers are women.
Later, the bank changed its name to Uganda Finance Trust Limited. It became a special type of financial institution that could take deposits from customers. On November 11, 2013, the Bank of Uganda gave it a full license to be a commercial bank. That's when it became Finance Trust Bank.
What Does Finance Trust Bank Do?
By the end of 2021, FTB helped over 500,000 people save money. It also provided loans to more than 29,000 people and businesses. The bank has 34 branches connected across Uganda, reaching many different parts of the country.
As of December 31, 2023, the bank's total value was about 465.47 billion Ugandan Shillings. This is roughly 126.6 million US dollars.

Changes in Ownership: Access Bank Group
In January 2024, a big bank from Nigeria called Access Bank Group decided to buy a large part of Finance Trust Bank. They agreed to buy 80% of the shares from the current owners. This deal also included putting more money into FTB to make it stronger.
The deal needed approval from the main banks in Nigeria and Uganda, and also from COMESA, a group of countries in Eastern and Southern Africa. COMESA approved the deal in May 2024.
After the deal was fully approved, the ownership of the new Access Bank Uganda changed. Here's how the ownership looked:

Who Leads Finance Trust Bank?
