The Finnegan Ferry: A Cool Way to Cross the River

The Finnegan Ferry is a special kind of boat that carries cars and people across the Red Deer River in Alberta, Canada. It's a historic ferry, meaning it's been around for a long time, and it's still used today! It connects Highway 862 from north to south.

The ferry and the community are named after a man named John Finnegan (1842–1924). He was one of the first settlers in the area. John Finnegan started and ran this ferry himself. People said he was very active and strong. Even at 75 years old, he could still do handsprings!

This ferry is completely free to use. The government of Alberta Transportation operates it. The ferry can carry up to thirteen cars or fifty people at one time. It runs every day from April 20 until November 15. You can use it between 7:00 AM and midnight.
