Fiona Xie (born January 24, 1982) is a famous actress, TV host, and businesswoman from Singapore. In 2006, she was named one of the "Seven Princesses of Mediacorp". She worked full-time for Mediacorp, a big media company, from 2001 to 2009.
Fiona Xie played the character Kitty Pong in the 2018 movie Crazy Rich Asians. She is also set to play the same role in the next movie, China Rich Girlfriend. This movie is based on a popular book by Kevin Kwan.

Fiona's Journey in Entertainment
Starting Her Career
Fiona Xie was discovered by a talent scout when she was just 15 years old. At that time, she was studying at St. Hilda's Secondary School. Before joining MediaCorp in 2001, she worked as a model. She appeared in many commercials for TV and magazines in Singapore and Hong Kong.
Her first acting job was as a nurse in a TV show called Growing Up. Her acting was so good that she got a very well-known role in the sitcom My Genie. After being in the entertainment world for only a little over a year, she won the "Best Newcomer" award at the Star Awards 2001.
Becoming a TV Host
Fiona also became known for her skills as a TV host. She could host shows in both English and Chinese. She was especially famous for hosting the long-running show City Beat.
She also hosted other fun shows. For example, she hosted Say Cheez, which was about photography. She also introduced famous people's favorite local foods in Coffee Talk and Hawker Woks. She even hosted a travel show called Weekend Escapade with Ben Yeo.
Memorable Acting Roles
In 2004, Fiona was part of a memorable scene in the Channel 8 drama The Champion. She ran along Orchard Road with other actresses like Jeanette Aw and Felicia Chin.
In 2006, Fiona tried a new kind of role. She played a spoiled rich girl in the drama An Enchanted Life. She acted alongside Yvonne Lim and Pierre Png. Later that year, a top entertainment magazine called I-Weekly named her one of Singapore's most promising young actresses.
In 2007, Fiona appeared on the TV game show Deal or No Deal. Any money she won went to a charity. Her episode was shown on November 22, 2007.
Fiona also acted in her second movie, Rule #1, directed by Kelvin Tong. This movie also featured Hong Kong actors Ekin Cheng and Shawn Yue. It was released in Singapore and Malaysia in March 2008.
She then starred in a MediaCorp Channel 8 drama called Just in Singapore in March 2008. In this show, she played a kind tomboy who sold chicken wings and sang at special outdoor performances called getai.
Fiona also appeared in a Channel 5 sitcom called Calefare. She played a background actor named Joleen Wee. Joleen was a wannabe singer who couldn't really sing.
Taking a Break and Coming Back
In 2009, Fiona was supposed to star in a big MediaCorp drama called Together. This would have been one of her most important roles. However, she decided to pull out of the show for personal reasons. Eelyn Kok took her place in the drama.
Fiona then played the main role in her third movie, Fist of Dragon, which was also made in Singapore.
In 2009, Fiona left the entertainment industry for a while. She said it was for personal reasons. After that, she traveled a lot around the world. She lived in cities like Hong Kong, New York City, Shanghai, and Tokyo. In December 2009, she confirmed in magazine interviews that she was leaving MediaCorp and explained why. Her last drama with Mediacorp was Serves You Right!.
She later hosted a variety show called Lodge with Me (我行我宿) in May 2010. She hosted it with Felicia Chin, Rui En, and Zhou Ying.
After being away for seven years, Fiona returned to Singapore in 2016. She filmed a MediaCorp show called Left Behind. In this show, she played a psychiatrist. Fiona said that the challenges her character faced in the show were similar to her own life experiences. She also mentioned that a big reason for her return was to spend more time with her family, especially a cousin who was very ill.
In 2018, Fiona got a role in the Warner Bros. movie Crazy Rich Asians. This movie starred Constance Wu and Henry Golding. This was her first role in a Hollywood film.
Fiona worked on both English-language Channel 5 and Chinese-language Channel 8 shows. She was very popular and was sometimes called the "head princess" of the Seven Princesses of Mediacorp. She also promoted products like Gong Cha drinks and OSIM massage devices.
In 2018, Fiona also returned to Chinese television. She starred in a crime thriller called Gifted, which was filmed in Malaysia. She played a powerful businesswoman who would do anything to get what she wanted.
Fiona's Business Ventures
In 2012, Fiona helped open a fashion store called Surrender in Shanghai. She also led a special project there. It was a collaboration between a Japanese accessories brand called Ambush and a South Korean rapper named G-Dragon.
Before she lived in Shanghai, Fiona spent a year in Japan. There, she worked as a producer for a Polish documentary filmmaker and photographer named Tomasz Gudzowaty.
Fiona loves art and has worked with Perrotin, an art gallery, when she was based in Hong Kong.
She is also one of the people who invested in a food and beverage company in Singapore called Treedots.
Fiona's Personal Life
In February 2017, news reports said that Fiona was in a relationship with Julien Leo, a model and rapper.
In 2020, Fiona shared more about why she left acting in 2009. In a Channel 8 talk show, she said she left Singapore with her then-fiancé, who didn't want her to keep acting. She lived in Hong Kong and New York for several years. She and her fiancé later broke up after her grandmother passed away.
