This inauguration was the start of Lyndon B. Johnson's first term as president. His term lasted for one year and two months. This was shorter than the usual four years because he was finishing the term of John F. Kennedy. President Kennedy had passed away unexpectedly. This was the only time a president has been sworn into office on Air Force One, the special plane used by the president.
