Flint is a small place in southeastern Smith County, Texas, United States. It's called an "unincorporated community." This means it's not officially a city or town with its own local government.
Flint is located along a road called FM 2493. It's south of a bigger city named Tyler. Tyler is the main city, or county seat, of Smith County. Flint sits about 522 feet (159 meters) above sea level. Even though it's not a city, Flint has its own post office and a special mail code, which is 75762.
History of Flint
The community of Flint got its name from a local landowner. His name was Robert P. Flynt. However, when the post office started in 1887, there was a small mistake. The postmaster, Charles B. Brown, accidentally misspelled the name on the official forms. He wrote "Flint" instead of "Flynt." That's how the community got its current spelling!
