How Flintobox Started
Flintobox was created by three friends: Arunprasad Durairaj, Vijaybabu Gandhi, and Shreenidhi Srirangam. They were also young parents who noticed that many children were spending too much time on screens. They wanted to find a way to help kids get involved in hands-on activities instead. This idea led to the creation of Flintobox. They started the company in September 2013, using their own savings to get it going.
In 2014, Flintobox received money from investors to help the company grow. This money helped them improve their products, marketing, and how they delivered the boxes. When they first started, Flintobox made products for children aged 4 to 8 years old. Over time, they expanded to offer boxes for kids from 2 to 12 years old. More investors helped Flintobox grow even bigger in the following years.
The name Flintobox comes from the word flint. Flint is a type of sedimentary rock that can make sparks when it hits steel. This name suggests how the boxes can spark new ideas and learning in children.
Getting a Flintobox
Flintobox offers different ways to get their activity boxes. You can choose a plan for 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months. You can also change or stop your plan whenever you need to. The company aims to help children learn many age-appropriate ideas and build 16 different skills while they are subscribed. Today, more than 10 lakh (1 million) families have subscribed to Flintobox.

What's Inside a Flintobox
Flintobox began in 2013 with activities for children aged 4 to 8. Each box usually has 3 to 4 play-based activities. These activities are designed by child development experts to help kids learn in a fun and healthy way. Every month, the box has a new theme, and all the activities are based on that theme.
Flintobox works with the International Institute of Information Technology in Hyderabad. Together, they design games that help children improve their motor skills, creative thinking, and overall mental development.
Each Flintobox aims to include four main types of activities that encourage children to create, explore, play, and read. Sometimes, there's even a bonus activity!
In 2015, Flintobox started making products for younger children, aged 2-3 and 3-4. These new boxes have 3 to 5 activities. The toys in these boxes are based on themes like wildlife, vegetables, coloring, outer space, and numbers. All these activities are designed to help with 16 different developmental needs in children. By the end of 2016, Flintobox also began making kits for older kids, aged 8-12. These kits focus on everyday science ideas and experiments.
Today, Flintoboxes are sent all over India. The ideas and designs for the boxes are created by the company's own team. However, the actual manufacturing of the items is done by other suppliers. Cities like Bengaluru and Chennai are big customers for Flintobox.

Flintobox sells its products entirely online. They do not have any physical stores. You can order and buy their boxes only through their website and app.
