Flor María Chalbaud Castro was an important figure in Venezuelan history. She was born on July 3, 1921, and passed away on January 12, 2013. She served as the First Lady of Venezuela from December 2, 1952, to January 23, 1958. She also helped start a special group called the Bolivarian Ladies Society.
Life and Role as First Lady
Flor Chalbaud married General Marcos Pérez Jiménez on February 4, 1945. When he became president, she became the First Lady of Venezuela. This means she was the wife of the country's leader. Her time as First Lady lasted from 1952 to 1958.
She was also a first cousin to another Venezuelan president, Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Delgado Chalbaud. During her husband's presidency, Flor Chalbaud was well-known for her role in official events. She often attended diplomatic gatherings and public functions. People knew her by her formal name, "Doña Flor María Chalbaud Cardona de Pérez Jiménez."

Helping Venezuelan Families
Flor Chalbaud played a key part in creating the Bolivarian Ladies Society. This organization was usually led by the First Lady of Venezuela. Its main goal was to help mothers and children across the country. They wanted to make sure families had the support they needed.
Between 1953 and 1954, the society started many projects. They opened kindergartens and schools for children. They also created playgrounds and special centers for mothers. On holidays, they would give toys to children. These activities helped many Venezuelan families.
Later Years
Flor Chalbaud stayed with her husband, Marcos Pérez Jiménez, during his years living outside Venezuela in Spain. She remained by his side until he passed away in Alcobendas. Flor Chalbaud herself died in January 2013. She was 91 years old.
