The Story of Flowell
Flowell started in July 1915. A man named Brigham Tomkinson drilled the first successful artesian well west of Fillmore. An artesian well is a special kind of well. Water flows out of it naturally, without needing a pump. This discovery changed the dry desert land into rich farmland. Many more wells were drilled in the area after that.
How Flowell Got Its Name
At first, this busy area was called Crystal. But because of all the freely flowing wells, it was soon renamed Flowell. This name comes from the words "flow" and "well."
