Fluvanna is a small place in Scurry County, Texas, United States. It's known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a settlement without its own local government. It's also a "census-designated place" (CDP), which is an area the government counts for population statistics.

Fluvanna sits high up on the Caprock, a steep cliff. It's just south of a large flat area called the Llano Estacado. Two important roads, Farm to Market Road 1269 and Farm to Market Road 612, meet here.

The town got its name from Fluvanna County, Virginia. A surveyor who helped map the area came from there. Fluvanna was started in 1908 by people who bought and sold land. They knew a railway, the Roscoe, Snyder and Pacific Railway, would end its line nearby.

History of Fluvanna

Fluvanna's importance changed over time. The railroad station closed in 1941. Also, major highways were built that did not pass through the town. This meant fewer people traveled through Fluvanna.

The number of people living in Fluvanna went down. In 1915, about 500 people lived there. By the year 2000, the population was 180. The local post office has also closed. However, the area still uses the 79517 zip code.

Today, Fluvanna is home to offices and shops for wind power companies. These companies build and maintain large wind turbines. There is one convenience store in town, but no gas station.

Population Changes in Fluvanna

Fluvanna was officially counted as a "census-designated place" for the first time in the 2020 U.S. Census. This means the government started tracking its population more closely.
