Exploring Fontanilles
Location and Size
Fontanilles is found in the Baix Empordà area of Catalonia. This region is known for its beautiful landscapes. The village is not very big, covering an area similar to about 930 soccer fields.
The GR 92 Footpath
A famous long-distance walking trail, called the GR 92, goes right through Fontanilles. This path follows the Mediterranean coast of Spain for a very long way. Even though Fontanilles is a bit inland, the GR 92 still passes through it.
If you walk north from Fontanilles on the GR 92, you will reach a village called Gualta. After that, the path continues towards Torroella de Montgrí. If you head south from Fontanilles, you will pass through Palau-sator before reaching Begur. This makes Fontanilles a good stop for hikers.
