Food Glorious Food was a fun British TV show about cooking. It was a competition to find the best homemade dishes! The show was on ITV in 2013. Carol Vorderman was the host. Judges included Tom Parker Bowles, Loyd Grossman, Anne Harrison, and Stacie Stewart. Andi Oliver was also a guest judge for some parts of the show.

Anyone of any age could enter this competition. The winner got a big prize of £20,000! Plus, their winning dish was made and sold in Marks & Spencer stores.

An official Food Glorious Food cookery book was released in February 2013. You could buy it online or in bookshops. The book has over 100 recipes. It includes all the winning dishes from the regional heats and the overall winner. The winning recipes were also shared on the ITV website.

How the Food Competition Worked

This cooking show searched all over the country. Its goal was to find the very best homemade dish. Carol Vorderman hosted the show. The main judges were Tom Parker Bowles, Loyd Grossman, Anne Harrison, and Stacie Stewart. Andi Oliver joined as a guest judge for the Harrogate heats.

The person who won the competition received £20,000. Their special dish was also sold in Marks & Spencer shops across the UK. For every dish sold, 40p went to Great Ormond Street Hospital. This helped a great cause!

Regional Heats: First Round

In the first round, called the regional heats, contestants served their dish to one of the four judges. The judge would taste the dish and decide if they liked it. If they did, the contestant got a special rosette.

After trying all the dishes, each judge picked their favorite. These four chosen contestants then moved on to Judges HQ. This part of the show was filmed in The Cotswolds. At Judges HQ, all four judges tasted each of the dishes again. They then voted to decide which contestant would go through to the Semi-Finals.

Semi-Finals: Cooking for Many

The semi-final stage was split into two separate shows. In each show, three contestants who had won their regional heats competed. They had a big challenge: they had to cook their dish for 150 people from the Women's Institute! Only one contestant from each of these two shows could move on to the Grand Final.

The Grand Final: The Big Finish

For the Grand Final, the two finalists traveled to London. There, host Carol Vorderman shared exciting news. Their dishes would be tested in stores across the country! Thousands of people would try the dishes and vote for their favorite.

The two finalists worked closely with M&S. They helped turn their homemade recipes into products ready to be sold.

Once the dishes were ready, thousands of samples were given out. Everyone who tried a dish voted on whether they would buy it.

As the votes were counted, the finalists returned to London. They were joined by their family and friends. Rahila Hussain, a teacher from Huddersfield, was announced as the winner! Her winning dish was a delicious chicken korma.
