Foose: A Small Community in Missouri
Where is Foose?
You can find Foose along Missouri Route EE. It's just a short distance west of a bigger road called U.S. Route 65. If you're coming from Buffalo, it's about seven miles south-southwest. The border between Dallas County and Polk County is also nearby, about two miles west on Route EE. Foose sits at an elevation of about 1,207 feet above sea level. A stream called Greasy Creek flows through the area, heading towards the Niangua River.
A Look Back: The History of Foose
Even though Foose is small today, it once had its own post office! This post office opened in 1893 and served the community for a while before closing in 1905. It's believed that the name "Foose" came from Foosland, Illinois. Many of the very first settlers who came to this area in Missouri were originally from Foosland, Illinois, and they likely named their new home after their old one.
