The American Ford Fusion is a car produced by the Ford Motor Company. It has been sold in the Americas since 2005, starting with the 2006 model year.
The first version of the Fusion was made from 2006 to 2012. It got a fresh new look, called a "facelift," in early 2009 for the 2010 model year. The second and current version of the Fusion came out in late 2012 as a 2013 model. It also received a facelift in Spring 2016 for the 2017 model. Ford plans to stop making the Fusion. This is because more people are choosing to buy crossover vehicles and SUVs instead of sedans.

Generations of the Ford Fusion
First Generation (2006-2012)
The first Ford Fusion models were introduced for the 2006 model year. They were known for being reliable and good for families. In 2009, the car got a big update for the 2010 model year. This update changed the car's look and added new features.
Second Generation (2013-Present)
The second version of the Ford Fusion arrived in late 2012 as a 2013 model. This version had a very sleek and modern design. It also offered different engine choices, including hybrid and plug-in hybrid options. In 2016, it received another facelift for the 2017 model year, updating its style and technology.
Types of Ford Fusion Cars
The Ford Fusion came in several types to fit different needs.
- Standard Gasoline Models: These were the regular cars powered by gasoline engines.
- Fusion Hybrid: This version used a mix of a gasoline engine and an electric motor. It helped save fuel and was better for the environment.
- Fusion Energi: This was a plug-in hybrid car. It could be plugged in to charge its battery, allowing it to drive on electric power alone for a certain distance before switching to gasoline.
Ford Fusion in Racing
The Ford Fusion was also used as a stock car in NASCAR races.
- From 2006 to 2012, the Fusion was Ford's car in the NASCAR Cup Series.
- A new racing version of the Fusion was introduced in 2013 for the "Generation 6" NASCAR cars.
- The Fusion race car was replaced by the Ford Mustang in the NASCAR Cup Series starting in 2019.
