Forestburg is a small community in Montague County, Texas, United States. It is not an official city, but rather an unincorporated community. In the year 2000, about 50 people lived there.

History of Forestburg
Forestburg was first settled in the early 1850s. Some of the first cattle farmers were Austin Perryman, Wash Williams, and Bob Clark. For a while, the area did not grow much. This was because of frequent raids by Native American tribes.
How Forestburg Got Its Name
The community was first called Horn Hill. Later, its name changed to Forest Hill. This new name came from a group of live oak trees in the area. But postal workers found another town named Forest Hill in Texas. So, the name was changed again to Forestburg. A post office opened in 1876.
Growth and Changes Over Time
By 1876, Forestburg had about 200 residents. There were several businesses, like places that cut wood (sawmills) and cleaned cotton (cotton gins). The population grew to 372 people by 1900. At that time, the community also got a telephone line.
However, the number of people living in Forestburg later went down. By the mid-1920s, there were 212 residents. In the mid-1950s, the population dropped to 100. There were still eight businesses open then. The population stayed around 100 from the mid-1970s to the early 1990s. The post office and eight businesses were still there. By 2000, the population had gone down to 50 people.

Forestburg has experienced some strong storms. On May 29, 1946, a tornado hit the community. It caused damage to homes. Another powerful tornado struck Forestburg on May 7, 1995. This storm caused significant damage and affected livestock in the area.
