Fort Landing is located in the eastern part of North Carolina. It sits right on the western side of the Little Alligator River. This river is also known as East Lake. The community is about 13 miles (21 km) east of a town called Columbia.
Fort Landing's History with US 64
For many years, Fort Landing was an important spot for a major road. From 1932 to 1951, it was the very end of US 64. This means that if you were driving east on US 64 in North Carolina, Fort Landing was the last place you would reach on that highway.
