The Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Toronto is a large building complex in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It has two main parts: a tall 55-story tower with homes (condos) and a 30-story tower for a fancy hotel. This impressive building opened its doors on October 5, 2012.
You can find the complex at 60 Yorkville Avenue, close to Bay Street. It's located in the Yorkville area, which is a well-known part of Toronto. The building was designed by Peter Clewes from architectsAlliance and built by Bay-Yorkville Developments.
When it was first built, the taller tower was one of the tallest buildings in Toronto. Over time, as more tall buildings were constructed, its rank changed. The land where the complex now stands used to be a car dealership.
One of the most interesting facts about the building is its penthouse. This special apartment takes up the entire 55th floor of the residential tower. It was sold for C$28 million, making it the most expensive condo ever sold in Canada at that time.
The complex has 259 hotel rooms and 210 private condo units. It also features a two-story spa, a restaurant called Café Boulud, and special event spaces with glass walls. Isadore Sharp, the founder of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, said the new Toronto location was "a true Four Seasons in our hometown, our flagship hotel."

History of Four Seasons Hotels in Toronto
The Four Seasons brand has a long history in Toronto, with several hotels operating in different locations over the years. Mel Pearl, a developer, started looking for a new location for a Four Seasons hotel in 2002.
The First Four Seasons Motor Hotel
The very first hotel operated by Four Seasons in Toronto was called The Four Seasons Motor Hotel. It opened in 1961 on Jarvis Street. This was a motor inn, a type of hotel for people traveling by car. The building was later taken down and replaced with townhouses.
Inn on the Park Hotel
Another Four Seasons hotel, the Inn on the Park, opened in 1963. This hotel later became a Holiday Inn in the 1980s. Eventually, it was also demolished, and a car dealership now stands in its place.
Four Seasons Sheraton Hotel
In 1972, the Four Seasons Sheraton Hotel opened. This was a partnership between Four Seasons founder Issy Sharp and Sheraton. However, Issy Sharp was not happy with the partnership and sold his share of the hotel in 1976. The hotel was then renamed The Sheraton Centre of Toronto.
Four Seasons Hotel Toronto (Old Location)
The Four Seasons hotel that operated for the longest time in Toronto was located at 21 Avenue Road. It was a 31-story concrete tower. This building was originally the Hyatt Regency Toronto when it was built in 1972.
Issy Sharp bought this hotel in 1978 and renamed it the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto. It became very popular with celebrities, especially during the Toronto International Film Festival. However, Sharp felt the building was not ideal. The hotel closed on March 28, 2012. It was then sold and turned into a condo building called Yorkville Plaza. The outside of the hotel was updated, and the lower parts of the building were rebuilt to include new shops.
What is Inside the Four Seasons Toronto?
The Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Toronto is designed to offer a luxurious experience. It combines both hotel rooms and private homes.
The Penthouse Apartment
At the very top of the residential tower, on the 55th floor, there is a very large penthouse apartment. This apartment is about 9,038-square-foot (839.7 m2) in size. It was bought for $28 million in 2012, making it the most expensive condo sold in Canada at the time. The famous designer Brian Gluckstein designed the inside of this penthouse.
