Fox Harb'r Golf Resort & Spa is a special place in Fox Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada. It's known for its amazing golf course. This huge property, about 1,100 acres, was owned by a Canadian businessman named Ron Joyce. He was one of the people who started Tim Hortons, a famous coffee and donut chain!

The resort first opened its doors in the year 2000. A talented person named Graham Cooke designed the golf course. Besides golf, Fox Harb'r also has a relaxing spa, a place for boats called a marina, a lodge for hunting, a winery, and even its own private airport!

The Story of Fox Harb'r

Ron Joyce bought the land for Fox Harb'r in 1987. It took some time, but the resort officially opened in 2000. If you look closely from some parts of the golf course, you can still see old pieces of a lobster factory that used to be there.

At first, Mr. Joyce thought about making Fox Harb'r a private neighborhood. People would own houses there, either to live in all year or just for holidays. But over time, it became a mix of a "private club" for members and a "public golf" course for everyone to enjoy.

Playing Golf at Fox Harb'r

The golf course itself covers about 250 acres. It was designed by Graham Cooke. In 2001, a magazine called Golf Digest said it was the Best New Canadian Course. Later, in 2009, they even listed it as one of the top fifteen golf courses in all of Canada!

This course is 7,205 yards long and has a "par" of 72. "Par" is the number of shots a good golfer is expected to take to finish the course. The course follows the beautiful coast of the Northumberland Strait, which is part of the Atlantic Ocean.

Many people love to play golf here. In 2010, about 7,000 rounds of golf were played. A very famous golfer, Tiger Woods, even played here in 2009. He set a course record by shooting a score of 63!

What Else Can You Do at Fox Harb'r?

Fox Harb'r Resort has more than just golf. It has a spa where you can relax and a conference center for meetings. You can get to the resort by a road that Ron Joyce called 'Amazing Grace Boulevard'. Or, if you prefer to fly, there's a private airport right there, with a runway that's about 4,885 feet long.

A former Canadian ambassador to the United States, Frank McKenna, used to hold a special summer event here. It was called the Frank McKenna Networking Event. He brought together business people from the Maritime Provinces to connect and share ideas. The resort also has a deepwater marina for boats and a lodge for hunting game birds.
