Fox Lake is a small community in Richland County, Montana, in the United States. It is called a "census-designated place" (CDP) because it's a special area defined for gathering population information. In 2020, about 231 people lived there.

History of Fox Lake

Within the Fox Lake area, there is also a community called Lambert. Lambert started as a train station along the Great Northern Railway. This railway line went west from Sidney, Montana.

Because the train station was so close to Fox Lake, the local post office was first named Fox Lake. The Lambert post office officially opened in 1914. Edmund Bronson was the first postmaster there.

Fox Lake is located in Montana at specific coordinates: 47.684208 degrees North and 104.625103 degrees West. It is about 21 miles (34 km) west of Sidney. You can find it along Montana Highway 200, close to the Fox Lake Wildlife Management Area.
