The Françoise River is a small river in Quebec, Canada. It flows into the Rivière aux Anglais, which means "English River." This area is part of the Manicouagan Regional County Municipality in the Côte-Nord region.
The river's valley is mainly used by the English River path. This path helps people get around the area. During winter, the Françoise River usually freezes over. This happens from early December until the end of March. However, it's safest to walk on the ice from mid-December to mid-March.

Where the Françoise River Starts
The Françoise River begins in a small, unnamed lake. This lake is located in the Canadian Shield, a very old and rocky part of Canada. The lake is about 441 m (1,447 ft) (about 1,447 feet) above sea level.
The river's starting point is about 9.0 km (5.6 mi) (about 5.6 miles) northeast of where it joins the English River. It's also close to Lake Franquelin.
How the River Flows
The Françoise River flows for about 11.1 km (6.9 mi) (about 6.9 miles). It travels through a thick forest, dropping about 182 m (597 ft) (about 597 feet) in height along its journey.
Here's how the river flows:
- It first goes south for about 1.2 km (0.75 mi) (about 0.75 miles). Along this part, it crosses three small lakes.
- Next, it flows south in a straight line for about 1.5 km (0.93 mi) (about 0.93 miles). It passes through another unnamed lake.
- Then, it continues south for about 6.0 km (3.7 mi) (about 3.7 miles). This part of the river flows through a deep valley. It also collects water from several other small lakes.
- Finally, it turns east and flows for about 2.4 km (1.5 mi) (about 1.5 miles) in another deep valley until it reaches its mouth.
Where the River Ends
The Françoise River joins the English River on its northeast side. This meeting point is in the unorganized territory of Rivière-aux-Outardes. After the Françoise River joins it, the English River continues for about 48.7 km (30.3 mi) (about 30.3 miles). It eventually flows into the Baie des Anglais, which is a bay on the northern shore of the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
