Françoise d'Alençon (born 1490 – died September 14, 1550) was an important noblewoman in French history. She was the eldest daughter of René of Alençon and Margaret of Lorraine.
Françoise was supposed to inherit lands and titles from her brother, Charles IV, Duke of Alençon. However, her sister-in-law, Marguerite of Angoulême, took control of these lands. Marguerite was also the sister of King Francis I of France.
Even though Françoise lost her inheritance, her family became very powerful. Her son, Antoine de Bourbon, later married Jeanne III, Queen of Navarre. Jeanne was the daughter of Marguerite of Angoulême and Henry II of Navarre. This marriage brought the families together.
Françoise's grandson, Henry de Bourbon, eventually became the King of France and Navarre. This shows how important Françoise's family line was to the future of France.
