Francesc de Paula Gambús i Millet (born May 21, 1974 – died November 23, 2019) was a Spanish politician. He was best known for serving as a Member of the European Parliament. An MEP is like a representative for their country in the European Union's Parliament. He worked to represent Spain's interests in Europe.

Francesc Gambús's Political Journey
Early Steps in Politics
Francesc Gambús started his political journey early. In 1995, he joined the youth group of the Democratic Union of Catalonia (UDC) party. This was his first step into the world of politics.
From 1998 to 2004, he worked as an advisor. He helped Concepció Ferrer, who was also an MEP from the UDC party. This gave him important experience in the European Parliament.
Working in Government and Advisory Roles
After his time in the European Parliament, Gambús continued to work in advisory roles. From 2005 to 2007, he was part of the CiU advisory team. This team worked in the Congress of Deputies, which is part of Spain's national parliament.
Later, between 2010 and 2011, he became a Councillor. He was in charge of Commerce and Consumption in Barcelona. This role involved working with different political parties in the city.
He also served as the chief of staff for Joana Ortega. She was the vice president of the Catalan government. After that, he became the general director of Foreign Affairs. This meant he helped manage Catalonia's relationships with other countries. Since 2012, he was part of the UDC's main governing committee.
Becoming a Member of the European Parliament
In 2014, Francesc Gambús was chosen to run for the European Parliament. He was the main candidate for the UDC party. The European Parliament is where laws for the whole European Union are discussed and made.
He was elected as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP). He joined the Coalition for Europe candidacy. This group won three seats in the election. Gambús then became part of the Group of the European People's Party in the Parliament. This is one of the largest political groups in the European Parliament.
After the European Parliament
Francesc Gambús served as an MEP until 2019. He was not re-elected in the 2019 elections. After leaving the European Parliament, he continued to work in politics. He became an advisor to María Rosa Estarás Ferragut. She was another MEP from the Popular Party. He worked with her in the European People's Party group.
His Passing
Francesc Gambús passed away on November 23, 2019. He was found in his hotel room in Brussels, Belgium. He was 45 years old.
