Francesco Renaldi facts for kids

Francesco Renaldi (born 1755, died 1798 or later) was a painter. He was born in England, but his parents were Italian.
Renaldi started studying art at the Royal Academy Schools in London in October 1776. He was 21 years old at the time.
Renaldi's Travels and Art
After 1781, Renaldi traveled in Italy for two years. He began his journey with a Welsh landscape painter named Thomas Jones.
From 1786 to 1796, Renaldi worked as a painter in India. He created many artworks there.
Paintings from India
Some of Renaldi's famous paintings from India include Muslim Lady Reclining (1789). This painting was made in "Dacca," which is now Dhaka. You can see this artwork at the Yale Center for British Art.
He also painted a portrait of Charles Cockerell and his Wife, Maria Tryphena, and her Sister, Charlotte Blunt in 1789. Charles Cockerell was an important person in the British East India Company.
Return to England
After living in India, Renaldi returned to England. In 1798, he showed a special kind of group portrait at the Royal Academy. This painting was of Thomas Jones and his family. A "conversation piece" is a painting that shows a group of people interacting, as if in a conversation.
This painting is now part of the collection at Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales.
