Francis Brolly (born 13 January 1938 – died 6 February 2020) was an Irish musician, teacher, and politician from Dungiven, Northern Ireland. He was a member of the Sinn Féin political party.
Francie Brolly served as a Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly (MLA) for the area of East Londonderry. He held this important role from 2003 until 2010, when he decided to step down.
His wife, Anne Brolly, also made history. She was the first Sinn Féin mayor and the first female Mayor of Limavady. She served in this position between 2003 and 2004, after being elected to the council in 2001.

Francie Brolly's Interests and Passions
Francie Brolly was very passionate about Irish culture. He loved music and was a talented lyricist, which means he wrote the words for songs.
Music and Irish Language
He wrote many well-known Irish songs. His most famous song is called "The H-Block Song." His daughter, Nodlaig, is also a well-known singer. She plays the Celtic harp, a traditional Irish instrument.
Francie Brolly was also very interested in the Irish language. He could speak Irish fluently, which means he spoke it very well. He worked as the spokesperson for Sinn Féin on Culture, Arts, and Leisure in the Assembly. He was part of the committee that looked after these areas.
His Love for Sports: Gaelic Games
Francie Brolly was a long-time member of the GAA. The GAA is an organization that promotes traditional Irish sports. He played football for the Derry county team. This is a big achievement for a Gaelic footballer.
He was also a member of the Executive Committee for St Canice's GAC Dungiven, his local club. His son, Joe Brolly, is also a famous Gaelic footballer. Joe was part of the Derry team that won the 1993 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship in 1993. He also won two All Stars, which are special awards for top players.
