Francisco José Carrasco Hidalgo (born on March 6, 1959) is a Spanish retired football player and manager. People often called him Lobo, which means "Wolf" in Spanish.

He played as a winger, which is a player who runs down the sides of the field. Lobo Carrasco spent most of his 14-year career playing for Barcelona. He played for the club for 11 seasons. During his time there, he helped Barcelona win ten big titles. These included the 1984–85 La Liga league title and three Cup Winners' Cups.

Lobo Carrasco also played for the Spanish national team for nine years. He represented Spain in the 1986 World Cup and two European Championships.

Playing for Clubs

Starting in Spain

Lobo Carrasco was born in Alcoy, a town in Valencian Community, Spain. He grew up learning football in the FC Barcelona youth system. He quickly became well-known in both the Spanish league, called La Liga, and in European competitions. He was famous for his amazing dribbling skills, which means he was very good at controlling the ball while running.

He first played for Barcelona's main team in the 1978–79 season. That same season, he played a big part in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. This was a European competition for cup winners. In the final match, Barcelona won 4–3 against Germany's Fortuna Düsseldorf after extra time. It was a very exciting game!

Moving to France and Retirement

Lobo Carrasco played over 350 games for Barcelona. He helped them win the league title in 1984–85. After many successful years with Barcelona, he moved to France. He played for three seasons with a club called FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in Ligue 1, which is France's top football league.

He then returned to Catalonia, Spain, for a short time. He played for UE Figueres before he stopped playing football professionally.

Becoming a Manager

After retiring as a player, Carrasco became a football manager. In the 2005–06 season, he managed Atlético Malagueño. This team was from Andalusia, a region in Spain. They ended up being moved down to a lower league that season. In the 2007–08 season, he coached a smaller team called Real Oviedo.

Playing for Spain

First Games and European Championships

Lobo Carrasco first played for the Spanish national team in a friendly game against Romania. This was on April 4, 1979, and the game ended in a 2–2 draw. He played a total of 35 games for Spain and scored five goals.

He was chosen to play in the UEFA Euro 1980 and 1984 European Championships. In the 1984 tournament, Spain reached the final, and Carrasco played in all five matches. He even scored a goal from a penalty kick against Romania in another tied game (1–1).

World Cup Appearance

Carrasco was also part of the Spanish team for the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico. However, he did not get to play in any of the games. Spain reached the quarter-finals in that tournament.
