Early Life and Training

We do not have many records about when or where Losada was born. It is thought he was born in Almería, Spain, sometime between 1612 and 1615. As a young man, he joined the Order of Saint Jerome. This was a religious group.

Working as a Musician

Losada started working at the Almería Cathedral on May 8, 1637. He became the conductor there. The position had been empty since October 1636. His job was to lead the music. He also composed new pieces for special events. On top of that, he taught music. He taught people how to play the organ, sing, and understand harmony.

In 1638, Losada left Almería. He moved to a city called Cádiz. Another musician, Sebastián de Guevara, took his place in Almería.

Moving Between Cities

Losada returned to Almería for a second time in August 1655. He stayed there for about a year. In September 1656, he moved back to Cádiz. In Cádiz, he was offered an important job. He became the director of a choir there. He stayed in Cádiz for the rest of his life. Francisco Losada passed away in 1667.
