He also met and learned about Native American tribes. These tribes were previously unknown to people from Europe. His work helped to map and understand the natural world of Brazil.

Journey to Africa

In 1798, Francisco de Lacerda led a Portuguese expedition. This journey took him to the Kazembe region of Zambia in Africa. The goal was to explore new trade routes and territories. It was a very challenging and dangerous trip.
