Cesare Frank Figliuzzi, Jr. (born September 12, 1962) is an American author and a former top agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He is best known for his role as the assistant director for counterintelligence. This means he was in charge of protecting the United States from foreign spies.

Before his top job in Washington, D.C., Figliuzzi was the special agent in charge of the FBI's office in Cleveland. From there, he managed FBI operations across northern Ohio, including major cities like Cleveland, Toledo, and Akron.

After leaving the FBI, Figliuzzi worked in the private sector for General Electric. He helped keep the company and its 300,000 employees safe around the world. Today, you can often see him on NBC and MSNBC News, where he shares his knowledge as a national security expert.

Education and Early Life

Frank Figliuzzi went to college at Fairfield University, where he earned a degree in English literature. He then studied law at the University of Connecticut School of Law, graduating with a J.D. degree, which is a degree for lawyers.

He also attended a special program for government leaders at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. This helped prepare him for high-level roles in national security.

Career with the FBI

Figliuzzi began his career as an FBI special agent in August 1987. Over the years, he worked in many different cities, including Atlanta, San Francisco, and Miami. He also served at the FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C..

One of his important roles was as the assistant special agent in charge of the Miami office, which is one of the busiest FBI offices in the country. In 2005, he became the FBI's chief inspector, a job where he made sure the bureau was running correctly.

What is Counterintelligence?

As the head of the FBI's Counterintelligence Division, Figliuzzi's main job was to stop spying activities in the United States. Counterintelligence agents work to uncover and stop foreign spies who might try to steal secret information from the government or American companies.

In February 2011, FBI Director Robert Mueller chose Figliuzzi to lead this important division. He worked with other leaders in the U.S. government to keep the nation safe.
