Frank Lovejoy was born in the Bronx, New York. However, he grew up in New Jersey. His father, Frank Andrew Lovejoy Sr., sold furniture. His mother, Nora, was born in Massachusetts. Her parents had moved to America from Ireland.
Radio Star
Frank Lovejoy was a very successful actor on the radio. In the 1930s, he played Broadway Harry on Gay Nineties Revue. He also appeared in the crime drama Gang Busters. For the first season of This Is Your FBI, Frank Lovejoy was the narrator.
He also acted in many radio soap operas. He played Dr. Christopher Ellerbe in Valiant Lady. He was Sam Foster in This Day Is Ours. He also had roles as Brad Forbes on Brave Tomorrow and Larry Halliday in Bright Horizon. In 1940, he played the main character in The Blue Beetle. Later, in the early 1950s, he starred in the crime drama Night Beat. He also appeared in episodes of Suspense in the late 1950s.

On October 2, 1962, Frank Lovejoy died from a heart attack while he was sleeping. He was at his home in New York City. At the time, he and Joan were acting together in a play called The Best Man in New Jersey.
