Franklin Deland Purnell (born April 5, 1933 – died April 19, 2007) was an American football player and coach. He played professionally as a fullback in the National Football League (NFL) for the Green Bay Packers during the 1957 NFL season. After his playing career, Purnell became the head football coach at his old college, Alcorn Agricultural and Mechanical College. This school is now known as Alcorn State University. He coached there from 1960 to 1963.
