Frederick F. "Freddie" Dunkelman (born February 5, 1920 – died July 23, 2010) was a British ice hockey player. He also became a successful businessman. Freddie Dunkelman was born in East Ham, Greater London. He loved ice hockey and became a skilled player. He joined a team called the Harringay Greyhounds. This team was well-known in British ice hockey.

In 1948, Freddie had the amazing chance to represent his country. He played for the British ice hockey team at the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz, Switzerland. His team worked hard and placed fifth in the tournament. This was a great achievement for the British team.

From Ice Hockey Sticks to Shoe Care

After his time in ice hockey, Freddie decided to start his own business. In 1946, he founded a company called Dunkelman & Son Ltd. He started this company in Battersea, London. At first, his company made and sold ice hockey sticks. This was a natural choice given his passion for the sport.

However, in 1950, Freddie decided to change his business. He moved from making ice hockey sticks to working with shoes. His company began to focus on shoe care products. Later, in 1969, the business moved to a new location in Desborough. Today, his company is known as Dasco Shoe Care.

A Long and Successful Career

Freddie Dunkelman was a dedicated businessman. He worked for his company for a very long time. He spent 61 years building and growing his business. In 2007, after many years of hard work, he decided to retire. Freddie passed away on July 23, 2010, at the age of 90. He is remembered as both an Olympic athlete and a successful entrepreneur.
