Freddie Solomon (born January 11, 1953 – died February 13, 2012) was a professional American football player. He was picked by the Miami Dolphins in the 1975 NFL Draft. Freddie was a talented wide receiver known for his speed.

He played for 11 seasons in the NFL. He was part of the Dolphins and later the San Francisco 49ers. Freddie Solomon is remembered for his important role in two Super Bowl wins.

Freddie Solomon was born in Sumter, South Carolina. He went to Sumter High School and graduated in 1971. He then played college football at the University of Tampa. In college, he played as a quarterback.

When he joined the NFL, he switched to playing wide receiver. This position involves catching passes from the quarterback. Freddie was 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighed 184 pounds.

Playing in the NFL

The Miami Dolphins drafted Freddie Solomon in 1975. He played for the Dolphins for three seasons. In 1978, he joined the San Francisco 49ers. He played with the 49ers until 1985.

Freddie was a key player for both teams. He had a great game on December 5, 1976. In that game, he caught 5 passes for 114 yards and scored a touchdown. He also ran for 59 yards and scored another touchdown. Plus, he returned a punt for 79 yards and a third touchdown!

Over his career, Freddie had 371 catches. He gained 5,846 receiving yards. He also scored 48 receiving touchdowns.
