Freddie Nelle Webb (born November 24, 1942) is a famous Filipino personality. He is known for being a retired basketball player and coach. He also served as a politician and is a familiar face and voice on television and radio.

Early Life and Education

Freddie Webb completed his elementary education at San Beda College. He then earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Colegio de San Juan de Letran.

Family Life

Freddie Webb is married to Elizabeth Pagaspas. They have six children together. Among their children are Hubert, Pinky, and Jason Webb.

Sports Star: Basketball Career

Freddie Webb started his basketball journey playing for the Letran Knights from 1960 to 1964. He became a star player for the team. After college, he played in the MICAA with the YCO Painters from 1965 to 1975. Later, he joined the PBA with the Tanduay Rhum Makers from 1976 to 1978.

He was also part of the national basketball team. This team competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics. After retiring as a player in 1978, Webb became a coach. He coached YCO-Tanduay from 1981 to 1983 and Shell in 1985 in the PBA. He also coached his former college team, Letran, for one season in 1975.

Public Service: Political Career

Freddie Webb began his political career in 1971. He was elected as a city councilor in Pasay, serving until 1978.

In 1987, Webb successfully ran for the Philippine House of Representatives. He became the first representative for the district of Parañaque. For his work, he was recognized as one of the Ten Outstanding Congressmen of the Year from 1987 to 1988. He also helped create the Sangguniang Kabataan, which are youth councils, as part of the Local Government Code of 1991.

In 1992, he was elected as a Senator. He placed 12th in the election, earning a six-year term. As a Senator, he led important committees, including the Senate Committee on Health and Demography. He also worked on laws like the National Health Insurance Act and the Voluntary Blood Donation Act. These laws aimed to improve healthcare for Filipinos. He ran for re-election in 1998 but was not successful.

Life in Entertainment: TV and Radio

Freddie Webb has had a long career in movies and television. He started acting even while he was a basketball player. He is also known as a radio personality and a sportscaster.

After 1972, he hosted a daily radio show called Pa-bandying, Bandying. He became very famous when he joined the TV show Chicks to Chicks in 1979. On the show, he played Jimmy Capistrano and was paired with comedienne Nova Villa. Their funny team-up was very popular, and they had a famous line, "Sweetheart, ligo na tayo" (which means "Sweetheart, let's take a bath").

He has appeared in many films, including Dimasupil Brothers (1971), Problem Child (1980), Every Breath U Take (2012), Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo? (2013), You're My Boss (2015), and Three Words to Forever (2018).

On television, he has been part of numerous shows. Some of his notable TV roles include Dr. John Capistrano in Can't Buy Me Love (2024), Jake Reyes Sr. in Love You Two (2019), and Senator Salvador Paglinauan in La Luna Sangre (2017). He was also a color commentator for basketball games on PBA on Vintage Sports.
