Freddy Reinaldo Antonio Beras-Goico (November 21, 1940 – November 18, 2010) was a very famous Dominican comedian, TV host, and writer. People often called him "Freddy Beras" or "Beras-Goico." For over 30 years, he was a well-known face on television. He hosted popular shows like El Gordo de La Semana and was one of the most recognized people in the Dominican Republic.

Early Life
Freddy Beras-Goico was born on November 21, 1940. In the 1950s, his family had to leave the Dominican Republic. They moved to Colombia because of a harsh government called the Trujillo dictatorship. Freddy lived in Colombia for several years. These experiences later helped shape his unique comedic style. He returned to his home country in the 1960s.
Television Career
Freddy Beras-Goico started his career working as a cameraman. He also worked in advertising, but he was always connected to television. He began creating funny shows for radio and TV. He met many friends who became a great comedy team with him.
Popular Shows
Freddy and his friends, like Felipe Polanco, Cuquin Victoria, and Nany Peña, made many comedy sketches. They often laughed so much during filming that the whole cast and crew would start laughing too!
He created his own weekly show called El Gordo de la Semana. This show became a very successful TV variety show. He also had a late-night TV show called Punto Final. Freddy Beras-Goico was a big part of prime-time and late-night TV in the Dominican Republic.
Personal Life
Freddy Beras-Goico's mother's family name, Goico, comes from Serbia. It was originally spelled Goicovich. He also had French and Russian family roots through his mother.
He was married twice. First, he married singer Luchy Vicioso. Later, he married Pilar Mejía. Freddy had several children. His uncle was Cardinal Octavio Beras Rojas, a high-ranking church leader. He was also a cousin of the Spanish-language TV star Charytín Goyco. In his later years, he became a follower of Evangelicalism.
Helping Others
Freddy Beras-Goico was well known for his philanthropic work. This means he did a lot of good deeds to help people. He was especially known for helping poor Dominicans get medical care. He cared deeply about his community.
Later Years and Passing
Freddy won the Casandra Award for best actor for his role in Victor/Victoria. He also hosted a nightly show called "Con Freddy y Punto." On this show, he shared hosting duties with "Boruga" and Pamela Sued. Pamela Sued is the wife of his son, Giancarlo.
Freddy Beras-Goico passed away on November 18, 2010. He was at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He had been battling pancreatic cancer. His death was confirmed by his family, just three days before his 70th birthday.
Legacy
To honor his memory, a metro station in Santo Domingo is named after him.
