Freedent is a popular type of chewing gum made by the Wrigley's company. It first came out in the United States and the United Kingdom in 1975. Freedent is special because it's designed not to stick to most dental work, like fillings, crowns, or braces. This makes it a great choice for people who have trouble chewing regular gum.
You can find Freedent in many different flavors, such as Winterfresh, Peppermint, Spearmint, Bubble Gum, Fruit, Strawberry, Eucalyptus, and Blueberry. It also comes in different package sizes. You can buy single packs with 15 sticks of gum, or larger multi-packs that have 8 smaller packs, each with 5 sticks. In some countries, like France, you can also find sugar-free versions of Freedent.
The Story of Freedent Gum
Freedent was created by the Wrigley Company because many customers shared a common problem. They found that regular chewing gum would often stick to their dental work. This could be annoying and sometimes even uncomfortable.
To solve this, Wrigley's developed Freedent using a new kind of gum base. This special base makes the gum much less sticky. When it first came out in 1975, Freedent was a big deal. It was the first major new gum brand that Wrigley's had released in the United States in 53 years!
Freedent in Canada
In 2001, Freedent introduced a new type of packaging in Canada. This was a pellet form, similar to how Orbit White gum was sold. A few years later, in the mid-2000s, this pellet version was renamed Freedent Total.
However, by June 2006, Wrigley's decided to stop selling Freedent Total in Canada. Instead, they replaced it with another gum called Excel White. Even though the pellet version was removed, Freedent gum is still sold in Canada today. It comes in stick form, and its packaging looks similar to Orbit gum in America and Extra gum in Canada.
Freedent in the Netherlands
You can still find Freedent gum in most shops across the Netherlands. It comes in a variety of flavors there. Sometimes, people choose Freedent because it can be a more affordable option compared to other brands like Orbit.
