Fresnillo de las Dueñas has a long history, dating back many centuries. An important event happened on February 1, 1095. On this day, a powerful couple, Count García Ordóñez and his wife, Infanta Urraca Garcés, gave the town a special document called a fuero.

A fuero was like a set of special rules and privileges. It gave the people of Fresnillo de las Dueñas certain rights and freedoms. This was a big deal because it helped the town grow and become more organized. At that time, Fresnillo was part of a larger area controlled by the Count and his wife, centered around a place called Nájera.
