Fruiterer facts for kids

A fruiterer, also known as a greengrocer or produce market, is a person or shop that sells fresh fruit and vegetables. Think of it as a special store just for healthy foods like apples, bananas, carrots, and broccoli!
For a long time, greengrocers were very common in towns and villages, especially in places like the United Kingdom and Australia. People would visit these shops to buy their daily fresh produce.
However, with the rise of big supermarkets, many small greengrocer shops became less common. Supermarkets started selling fruits and vegetables too, often all in one place. Even today, you can still find greengrocers! They might run small shops in cities, or have stalls at street markets and even inside shopping malls. Some also manage the fruit and vegetable sections within larger supermarkets. These traders usually handle everything themselves, from buying the produce to selling it and keeping track of their business.
