Show's Exciting Format
Fully Booked changed its look and presenters a few times. Let's explore how the show evolved over its six series.
Early Years: The Hotel Setting (Series 1–3)
The first series of Fully Booked was hosted by Zoe Ball and Grant Stott. The show was set in a pretend hotel, which made it unique!
They were joined by actor Paul Brophy, who played many funny characters. There was also a big puppet named Morag. Morag was a talking Highland cow who worked as the hotel's receptionist.
For the second series, Sarah Vandenbergh joined as a presenter. She replaced Zoe Ball. Grant Stott, Paul Brophy's characters, and Morag all returned. These series were not live. They were "recorded as-live," meaning they were filmed in one go. This made them feel like a live show, even without live audience interaction.
In August 1997, due to a national event, one episode of Fully Booked was shown a few days later than planned. It aired on September 2, 1997.
New Look, New Presenters (Series 4–5)
The fourth series brought big changes! The show got a new logo, a new opening video, and a new set. Even the theme music was remixed.
All the old presenters and characters left. A new team took over: Chris Jarvis, Gail Porter, and Tim Vincent. The show kept its magazine style, with guests, games, and music. However, the "hotel" idea was mostly dropped. The show became more like a regular TV magazine.
For the fifth series, Gail Porter decided to leave. Kate Heavenor joined the team to replace her. Kate had worked on other BBC channels before.
During this time, Fully Booked became known for featuring different kinds of music. They had popular pop acts, but also invited alternative bands to perform. Groups like Electrasy, Shed Seven, and Catatonia appeared on the show.
Final Series: FBi and More Interaction (Series 6)
The sixth and final series was renamed FBi. It became a new live show. There was a brand new studio, new theme music, and new graphics to match the new name.
Kate Heavenor continued as a host. However, Chris Jarvis and Tim Vincent were replaced. The new presenters were Vernon Kay and Boyzone member Keith Duffy.
FBi still had a mix of features, just like before. But it focused more on letting viewers join in! Kids could take part in the show using the internet, email, text messaging, and by calling in. Viewers could play games, join in features, and ask questions to the guests on the show.
