Exploring Gabilan Acres
Gabilan Acres is located in a beautiful part of California. It sits northeast of the city of Salinas. You can find it near Bolsa Knolls on San Juan Grade Road.
Where is Gabilan Acres Located?
This community is about 6.5 miles (10.5 kilometers) west of Fremont Peak. Fremont Peak is a well-known landmark in the area. Gabilan Acres is also about 203 feet (62 meters) above sea level. This means it is not very high up, but it still offers nice views.
A Look Back in Time
Gabilan Acres was first planned in 1940. It was designed as a subdivision, which is a large area of land divided into smaller lots for homes. When it was first created, the community had rules about who could live there. These rules limited who could buy homes in the area.
By 1948, Gabilan Acres had grown quite a bit. There were 48 families living in the neighborhood. Children from these families went to school in a nearby community called Santa Rita.
In 1964, a local newspaper, The Californian, wrote about Gabilan Acres. It was listed as one of nine unincorporated communities around Salinas. Other communities mentioned included Oak Park, Spreckels, and San Benancio. This shows that Gabilan Acres was an important part of the wider Salinas area.
