Gabriella Szabó (born August 14, 1986) is a super talented Hungarian athlete. She is famous for her amazing skills in sprint canoeing. This sport involves racing special boats called canoes or kayaks very fast over water. Gabriella has been competing since the late 2000s and has won many important medals.

Gabriella's Amazing Career

Gabriella Szabó has had a fantastic career filled with many victories. She has won medals at the biggest sports events in the world, including the Olympic Games and World Championships.

Early Success and Olympic Debut

Gabriella first showed her talent on the world stage at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. There, she won a silver medal in the K-4 500 meters event. This means she was part of a team of four kayakers who paddled a kayak over a distance of 500 meters. Getting an Olympic medal so early in her career was a huge achievement!

World Championship Wins

Gabriella has also been incredibly successful at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships. These championships bring together the best canoe and kayak racers from all over the globe. She has won many medals there:

  • Nine gold medals:
    • K-2 500 meters in 2009, 2010, 2014, and 2015
    • K-2 1000 meters in 2010 and 2013
    • K-4 500 meters in 2011, 2013, and 2014
  • One silver medal:
    • K-4 500 meters in 2015
  • One bronze medal:
    • K-2 1000 meters in 2007

These wins show how strong and consistent she is in both two-person (K-2) and four-person (K-4) kayaks, and over different distances.

Olympic Gold Medals

Gabriella Szabó is a three-time Olympic gold medalist!

  • 2012 London Olympics: She won her first Olympic gold medal at the London Olympics. She was part of the Hungarian team in the Kayak Four (K4) 500m event. Her teammates were Danuta Kozák, Katalin Kovács, and Krisztina Fazekas. They worked together perfectly to win the gold for Hungary.
  • 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics: At the Rio Olympics, Gabriella won two more gold medals!
    • She won gold in the Kayak Double (K2) 500m event with her partner Danuta Kozák.
    • She also won gold again in the Kayak Four (K4) 500m team event. This time, her teammates were Danuta Kozák, Tamara Csipes, and Krisztina Fazekas Zur. In both of these winning teams, Gabriella was the "stroke" paddler. The stroke paddler sets the rhythm and pace for the whole boat.

European Games Success

In June 2015, Gabriella also competed in the very first European Games. This big event was held in Baku, Azerbaijan. She represented Hungary in canoe sprint. She earned another gold medal in the Women's K-4 500m with her teammates Anna Kárász, Danuta Kozák, and Ninetta Vad.
